Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, demons, and malevolent powers expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Warrior Group Revealed

The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and introduced the initial group of heroes who will split off from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.

This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).

The Reason for Division

With 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be impossible.

This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Schemers, and Explorers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven narrative style where peaceful solutions are rare.

At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might appear out of place, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the combat party.

Motivations for Departure

First, the party knows exactly where to head next after a intense opening clash with the antagonists.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, invading the secret base, attacking the rogue, and swiping all the powerful objects to auction.

The traitor then settled his liabilities and ran away to a secure base in the northern region, north of the city, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each character has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, desires retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a hostile location.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having resisted his house’s orders to execute the fighter and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • Yet, their position as prominent individuals in the influential clan could assist the party access areas they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, The grateful character pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him wherever.

Fugitives

Lastly, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
  • The strong figure and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • The target is marked for death by the clan.

This means them few options but to journey toward Timmony in quest for the traitor.

Future Episodes

From the recent installment’s follow-up content, we learn that the combat party will be absent the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to round up the Explorers and Strategists parties.

Fans can look forward to learning which players will be where in the story’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
